Formula 1600

Created at Brands Hatch in the late 1960's, Formula 1600 was started as a low cost championship that would encourage participation in motorsport. It has evolved little over the years and has always been a popular category for both aspiring professionals and competitive amateurs.

Chassis

Designed and built by French race car manufacturer Mygale, the SJ-09 is the most competitive chassis designs in F1600 racing today. Its simplicity and light weight help it outperform any exotic street car, despite a top speed of only 130mph.

Engine

With an output of roughly 120 horsepower, our Honda L15A7 started life as a production engine for a Honda Fit. After the car ended up in an accident, we purchased the engine from a junkyard for $400, fitted the Honda F1600 conversion kit, and put it in our car.

Gearbox

The engine is mated to a 4-speed Hewland LD-200 gearbox. Designed especially for low weight, low horsepower racing cars, the standard H-pattern shifter doesn't require use of the clutch and makes for very quick shifts.

About

Charles Anti began racing gokarts at the age of 16. A year later he graduated to cars and competed in the Skip Barber Eastern Regional Series. He won Rookie Of The Year in 2004 and won the championship a year later. In 2006 and 2007 he moved up to the Star Mazda Pro Championship, with a highest finish of 5th.

Time off to focus on studies ended in 2011 and Charles switched to the British Formula Ford Championship with a privateer effort in 2012. Results were promising with a 3rd place finish in only the second event, but afterwords the team ran out of funding.

After importing the car to the US and converting from Ford to Honda power, Charles looks to pick up where he left off in 2012.
